I am overwhelmed, thankful and challenged by all the wonderful words, feelings and memories of my dad, Matt Farmer. I could sit and walk down memory lane and remember all that I had and be so thankful or I can sit and feel sad for all that we lost however, I am challenged in a different way by everyone’s remarks.
We study of the impact that Jesus had on this earth, He was God on earth but he was also one man, his influence was through his relationships and how he treated each person. Those people that He touched were changed, not just for the time they were with Jesus, but also for eternity. Those people took their personal stories and told others spreading the influence that Jesus had in ways one man couldn’t. Jesus lived out the model that we are to live by, to influence others for His kingdom, one relationship at a time.
So what’s the challenge for us? To be the difference in someone else’s life, to influence someone else’s today so that Jesus can change their eternity. Each person that commented on my father’s picture shared stories of how he impacted their life. He was special but only because he chose to live out what Jesus modeled. We each have the same calling and the same opportunity if we choose it! He left an incredible legacy. What legacy will we leave and what will others say about us? The choice is in our everyday decisions; the words we say and the relationships we build with each other, but especially in our relationship with Jesus. Take these wonderful memories you have and use them as a challenge to impact the kingdom of God through your life. One day, people will be posting how deeply you impacted their life. Our days are short and they are numbered.
Make it count!
