I have learned many things from unanswered prayers. When God does not answer our prayers, do we try to understand why? Do we ask ourselves. “what could He be saying to us?” and “what He could be trying to teach us about ourselves in this situation?
Maybe the timing isn’t right. God’s delays are not always God’s denial.
Maybe God is protecting us from ourselves or from something we don’t know about yet.
Maybe God is teaching us patience and understanding of His will.
Maybe God is waiting on us to be obedient.
Maybe God has something totally different for us than what we are asking for.
We must always trust in what we know to be the true character of God. God has 3 answers for us during these times: yes, no, and wait.
When answers don’t come, shouldn’t it be a clear message for us to look inside ourselves – to look deep within to see what our part may be in the non-answer? It could become a very pivotal point in our lives. When we surrender our will to His will, then God has something to work with. We are then moldable. “He is the potter; I am the clay.” Isaiah 64:8 This could be exactly where God has wanted us to be all along – surrendered to Him completely.
Unanswered prayer can be one of God’s tools for changing us, changing our hearts and our relationship with Him.
There are things we can do as we wait to hear from God.
- Continue to pray and seek Him.
- Examine ourselves.
- Keep trusting God.
- Keep our heart and eyes open.
As we seek God, He will come along side of us. His answer & His timing may not be what we asked for or wanted but they will be exactly what we need at that time. God gives us what we need, when we need it!
Lean into God. Trust Him always. Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”
