Tensions are high this week. This year’s election process is ending, and the country is nervous. Everyone has an opinion, and it seems that no one wants to hear anything that contradicts their beliefs. As Christians, we are called to rise above the mudslinging and finger pointing that seems to have taken over every media outlet. When we are faced with difficult times and monumental moments in our lives and our country, we must turn to the Bible for guidance.
1 Timothy 2:1-2 states, “I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.”
We must pray for our leaders, even if our candidate isn’t the one elected.
Mark 12:31 states, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these.”
We must love our neighbors, even if we don’t agree with their political beliefs.
AND ABOVE ALL: Remember that the Lord is sovereign and in control. He is the one who holds our peace and our future. No one else. Read these verses below for encouragement!
Psalm 103:19: “The Lord has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all.”
Isaiah 46:9-10: “Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.'”
Proverbs 19:21: “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”
Daniel 4:35: “All the peoples of the earth are regarded as nothing. He does as he pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth. No one can hold back his hand or say to him: ‘What have you done?'”
Romans 8:28: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
Ephesians 1:11: “In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will.”
