I wish I could say that I am that girl who gets up at 5:00 am every day and spends hours in the Word, in prayer, and seeking the Lord…but I’m not! Some days, life allows me the opportunity to be that girl, but many times reality dictates otherwise. However, several months ago the Lord, in His kindness, allowed my schedule to open up and I got to sit with Him for several hours. Here is what He showed me, “Search me, Teach me, Show me…… the Truth.”
Psalm 139:23-24
“Search me, O Lord, and know my heart. Test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
Psalm 86:11
“Teach me your way, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth. Give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your Name.”
Psalm 25:4-5
“Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.”
I had memorized these verses separately, but on this particular day, the Lord linked them together for me in a new way. I now start every day with them. Whether I have time to sit with the Lord for an hour or I only have time to listen to a devotional while simultaneously putting on mascara and drying my hair, I can pray God’s Word back to Him.
As I pray “Search me, teach me, Show me, Lord,” it places my heart in a posture of humility before the throne. 2 Timothy 3:16 says, “All Scripture is God-breathed and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” I am asking God to do all those things in my heart and life so that I will be ready for the work He has planned for me for that day.
I encourage you to take the opportunity to memorize these verses so that you can come to God with your requests and then you will “…know that if we ask according to his will, he hears us and we have what we have asked for. “(Especially if we are seeking Truth! 🙂
