Last week’s podcast was intense and filled with raw pain that many of us can identify with. If you haven’t had a chance to listen to it, I encourage you to find it on the podcast platform you use, listen and share it with others.

The background of the trauma surrounding abortion is the story, but the underlying message of God’s redemption and grace is powerful and woven throughout. A friend of mine who listened to the podcast said, “What if this had been my story? How would I have dealt with the consequences of my choices?”. The message is convicting for everyone because we have all made choices in our lives that have derailed our walk with the Lord. The good news is that He is there full of grace and love and waiting to restore us to a right relationship with Him.
Choices have the potential to dole out dire consequences that alter our lives. Sometimes we can get stuck in processing the results of those choices. Even if we have skirted public consequences for past actions, the emotional ones that are still left can be hard to deal with. So, the question I ask is this: What do you do with unhealed emotional trauma, be it self-inflicted or otherwise?
Take it to God.
The most important thing to know is that God is waiting. He is waiting for us to bring it to Him.
Psalm 55:22 says, “So here’s what I’ve learned through it all: Leave all your cares and anxieties at the feet of the Lord, and measureless grace will strengthen you.”
But sometimes this is hard. We feel like we put it down only to find ourselves subconsciously carrying it again. No matter how any times we pray and visualize ourselves surrendering it to the Lord, we find the burden strapped soundly to our backs with no relief in sight. This happens to somany of us, and it’s not what God wants for our lives.
If you can relate to this burden, I encourage you to seek help in learning better ways to surrender your past traumas to the Lord.
