“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Romans 15:13 (NIV)
Hope. Joy. Peace. And then comes Trust. We all desire the Hope, Joy, and Peace of Christ because those are feelings and words that make our life better and happier and give us purpose. But then the Trust word comes. Trust is much harder for us because it is needed in good and bad times and doesn’t necessarily change our circumstances. My father used to quote President Reagan, saying the key to good parenting is “trust, but verify?” How does this relate to our spiritual life and relationship with God? Trust Him. Verify what you trust to be true with His Word. He is not threatened by your quest to confirm your suspicions or doubts. He is Truth. He is where we find our hope for today, tomorrow, and eternity. As you and I dig deeper into His word, building and deepening our relationship with our Heavenly Father, we begin to trust Him more. As we trust Him, finding the Hope, Peace, and Joy that He deeply desires to offer is much easier. Are you struggling today to find hope in this crazy life? Are you overwhelmed by the pace and requirements our life requires? Come to the One who can offer and deliver what your heart yearns for: Hope, joy, and peace. He is faithful and trustworthy in fulfilling every need.
Lord, thank You for refreshing our joy when we feel overwhelmed by all the demands and responsibilities placed on us. Help us find pockets of time so we can come to You and be filled with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. May I trust Your hand to guide me through the deepest waters resting in the hope, joy and peace that can only come from You.
