Grief: “Deep Sorrow”, especially caused by someone’s death is something almost everyone will have to experience at one point or another.
This is something that has been on my heart recently, and I feel like sharing it to glorify God and share good news.
Our job on earth is to grow the kingdom of God by introducing people to the loving, forgiving Savior, Jesus Christ. We are sent here to share the gospel and to bring as many people to heaven with us as possible. When we have fulfilled our purpose, we are then taken to be with our Heavenly Father. This is a new way I have begun to look at life and death.
We may ask, what purpose does death bring, and question the circumstance, but Jesus’ death was full of purpose and to save us! Some had eyes to see and others missed it. This can bring hope that our loss will also bring purpose, if we pray to have eyes to see His purpose. This also motivates me. It motivates me to live a life that glorifies Christ and to bring as many along with me as possible.
Recently, in a sermon, I heard that our life on earth is the beginning of a growing relationship with Jesus and then preparing for Jesus to take us home or for Him to come back.
Every day is another day to prepare.
Death is something that has become very real to me, because I have seen it happen so many times to those close to me, especially in the past four years and even more so in the last twelve months. Around two months ago, I lost my grandmother. She was an active, healthy, vibrant, fun lady, and we would never have expected her to be taken so soon. Her death has taught me so much, not only by the life she lived, and how much I look up to her, but I also realized how any day could be our last! This has truly hit home.
I want to be able to go to sleep at night knowing I have done my best and whenever that day comes, I can be proud of the life I lived. I also want to be able to see everyone I know and love in heaven with me.
Death is not the end; it truly is only the beginning.
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Revelation 21:4
So, while we do miss those we have lost, we know we WILL see them again and with that we should use it as a motivation to share His love to everyone we meet.
